“No Bad Blood! Lateef Adedimeji Dismisses Allegations of Netflix Dropping Him”

“Amid Netflix Drama, Lateef Adedimeji Confirms Lisabi Sequel Still on Track for 2025 Premiere”

Nollywood star and filmmaker Lateef Adedimeji has set the record straight, assuring fans that his collaboration with Netflix remains as sturdy as ever. The actor recently unveiled that the highly anticipated second chapter of his hit film Lisabi: A Legend Is Born is slated to premiere on the streaming giant in January 2025. This announcement comes as a welcome relief amidst swirling rumors of Netflix’s dwindling presence in Nigeria.

The speculation ignited after acclaimed director Kunle Afolayan disclosed that Netflix had halted funding for some Nigerian projects, sparking fears of a wider withdrawal. Speaking at the 2024 Zuma Film Festival, Afolayan clarified that his series, Anikulapo: The Rise of the Spectre, was unaffected due to pre-approved funding. However, uncertainty loomed over other productions, raising alarm bells for the future of beloved Nigerian content.

Netflix responded with a vague reassurance, affirming its commitment to Nigerian storytelling but sidestepping specific concerns about ongoing projects. This left audiences apprehensive, with many questioning the fate of Lisabi and other fan-favorite titles.

Lateef Adedimeji quelled the growing unease with a confident declaration on social media:
“The internet got a not-so-good news about our principal partners Netflix yesterday, and many expressed concerns about Lisabi. We’re pleased to announce that our relationship with Netflix is intact, and Lisabi Part 2 will land in January as promised. Anticipate magic — trailer and poster dropping soon!”

With this thrilling confirmation, Lisabi fans can breathe easy, knowing the saga will continue to unfold on the global stage. As speculation dies down, all eyes are now eagerly awaiting the official trailer and poster drop for the upcoming blockbuster sequel.
